Itinerary


DAY 1

Arrival in Warsaw, capital city of Poland. Enjoy a half day panoramic sightseeing of Poland’s capital city including the Ghetto Memorial, the Monument of Warsaw Uprising, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the Grand Theatre, Chopin’s monument, the Belvedere Palace and the Old Town. In the Old Town you can enjoy a walking tour taking in the Castle Square, King Sigismund’s Column, St. John’s Cathedral, the Old Town Market Square and the Barbican. Check in to your Warsaw hotel, free time in the afternoon to get to know the city at your own pace.  Overnight Warsaw, Poland.

DAY 2

Today travel south through Poland following the Eagles Nest Trail to Czestochowa to see the famous “Black Madonna“, a Gothic painting of the Virgin Mary in the monastery of Jasna Gora.  Visit the Renaissance Castle in Pieskowa Skala which is home to the Museum of the National Wawel Art Collections before arriving in the beautiful and historic city of Krakow. Overnight Krakow, Poland.

DAY 3

This morning there is the option to take a half day trip to the Auschwitz-Birkenau museum where a tour around the notorious World War 2 concentration camp will make a lasting impact. In the afternoon enjoy a half day tour of Krakow, showing you the highlights such as Wawel Cathedral and Royal Castle, the enormous Market Square and Oskar Schindler’s factory made so famous in the film Schindler’s List.  Overnight Krakow.

DAY 4

Head south and west for a  visit to the delightful medieval town of Banska Stiavnica and enjoy time to stroll around its historic lanes. Arrive in Budapest, capital city of Hungary, and be welcomed with a folklore dinner showcasing Hungarian tradition and cuisine.   Overnight Budapest, Hungary.

DAY 5

After breakfast, take a sightseeing tour along Budapest’s elegant Andrassy Avenue to Heroes’ Square, across the mighty Danube and up to Castle Hill with magnificent views over this famous river dividing Buda from Pest – the two sides linked by the Chain and Elizabeth Bridges.  The medieval cobblestone streets of the Castle District are a joy to wander through and your tour also takes you to witness the spectacular panorama from the Fisherman’s Bastion over the splendid Parliament building, one of the largest in Europe. Free time to go around the Central Market Hall before your transfer for the Danube Dinner Cruise where you can view Budapest at night in all its glory. Overnight Budapest.

DAY 6

This morning follow the River Danube upstream to Bratislava.  Enjoy a tour around the city visiting the Old Town, Old Town Hall, Elisabeth Church and St. Michael’s Tower and Street, and marvel at the superb castle on its rocky outcrop towering over the city and the Danube river.  Bratislava and Vienna are two of Europe’s closest capital cities, so its just a short drive into Austria and your hotel.  Overnight Vienna, Austria.

DAY 7

Enjoy a panoramic tour of the city as you circle around the Ringstrasse, passing some of the most significant sights such as the City Hall, the Parliament Building, the State Opera House and the famous Hofburg Palace. Then explore the city’s imperial past as you  tread in Sisi’s footsteps at Schönbrunn Palace which used to be her summer residence. Take a wander around the palace’s Baroque gardens and get lost in the 17th century maze.  There’ll be time for a drink and a cake in one of the city’s legendary cafes later today, as well as an opportunity  for some classy shopping!   Overnight Vienna.

DAY 8

In the morning head north into the Czech Republic, with a stop at one of the most beautiful towns in the country. Cesky Krumlov still maintains its medieval charm as it earns its UNESCO World Heritage title. Visit the Castle which towers over the town and walk through its maze of narrow cobblestone streets leading into the old town. Proceed to Prague, the city of a hundred spires, known to be one of the most romantic cities in the world. Overnight Prague, Czech Republic.

DAY 9

Enjoy a full day sightseeing tour of Prague starting from the Castle District with a visit to St. Vitus’ Cathedral, George Basilica and the Old Royal Palace, the former residence of the Bohemian kings.  Walk along the Golden Lane, lined with small souvenir shops, medieval museums and little houses where famous writers such as Franz Kafka and Jaroslav Seifert used to live. Continue down to the Lesser Town afterwards, passing the John Lennon Wall, filled with graffiti inspired by the artist and pieces of lyrics from The Beatles’ songs. Cross famous Charles Bridge to move into the Old Town where you can watch the moving figures of the Prague Astronomical Clock,  the oldest working example in the world.  Take some time at your own pace to explore the Old Town. Overnight Prague.

DAY 10

Continue north today into Germany, through the lovely hills of Saxony’s “Little Switzerland” en route to Dresden. Known as the Jewel Box for its baroque and rococo style buildings, Dresden still remains as one of the great cultural centres of Germany even after being heavily destroyed during the Second World War. Enjoy a walking tour around the city, visiting key locations including the Semper Opera and the Zwinger.  Continue north to Germany’s capital city.  Overnight Berlin, Germany.

DAY 11
Half day city tour of Berlin where you can hear about the city’s turbulent history as you walk through the Brandenburg Gate and see the Reichstag Parliament building and continue on to the Holocaust Memorial. Walk around Unter den Linden and see the Opera and where the Nazi students burned books in 1933 and remaining parts of the Berlin Wall whcih divided the city during the “Cold War”,  and if you wish get a stamp on your passport from Checkpoint Charlie. Free time to explore and enjoy the superb shopping opportunities in this truly cosmopolitan city.  Overnight Berlin.
DAY 12

This morning transfer for your homeward flight from Berlin, Hamburg or Frankfurt .
