Itinerary


DAY 1

On arrival enjoy a short orientation sightseeing tour taking in the Houses of ParliamentBig Ben and Westminster Abbey, final resting place of seventeen monarchs, Buckingham Palace,  Trafalgar Square,  Nelson’s Column, and Piccadilly Circus. If time is short you’ll see them tomorrow instead.  Overnight central London.

DAY 2

Today is dedicated to taking in more of London’s great monuments  including the Tower of London, the medieval castle which served as a fortress, a royal palace, a prison, a place of execution and torture, an armoury, treasury, and since 1303, the home of the Crown Jewels of the United Kingdom.  Other ‘musts’ included in your visit are a walk over the iconic Tower Bridge to Butler’s Wharf, and on past City Hall, the HMS Belfastmuseum ship and The Globe – the replica of Shakespeare’s theatre. Continue to the Tate Modern gallery and via the  Millennium Bridgeto St Paul’s Cathedral, designed by Sir Christopher Wren, where Prince Charles married Lady Diana Spencer, the late Princess of Wales.  Enjoy the evening in the city’s Soho area, famous for cinemas, theatres, clubs and restaurants.  Overnight in central London.

DAY 3

Today choose to visit more of the vast range of museums, sites  and attractions for which London is so famous.  These include the world renowned Science, Natural History, Victoria and Albert and British Museums, Madame Tussauds, the Churchill War Rooms, Kensington Palace, Wembley Stadium, the National Gallery…. the list is endless!  Alternatively take the short drive to Bicester Shopping Village to take advantage of the excellent shopping, or walk in the footsteps of Harry Potter at the Warner Bros Studio Tour London. Overnight in central London.

DAY 4

Head out of the city this morning to nearby Windsor Castle. Known worldwide as one of the Queen’s favourite residences, this imposing and majestic castle set amongst acres of beautiful gardens is definitely worth seeing. Visit the magnificent State Apartments and St George’s Chapel, which is the resting place of several famous British monarchs, such as Charles I and Henry VIII.  Back in the city this afternoon enjoy a ‘flight’ on the London Eye – the best way to capture a bird’s eye view of London! Then complete your day with some shopping in Oxford Street or Knightsbridge, home of Harrods,   Overnight  central London.

DAY 5

Transfer from your hotel to St Pancras International this morning, to take the Eurostar high speed train direct to the heart of Paris. On arrival in Paris, join the coach transfer with an orientation sightseeing tour en-route to your hotel.  Once check in is complete, you have free time to discover more of this incredible city independently at your own pace. Overnight in central Paris.

DAY 6

Today is dedicated to a sightseeing tour around the world famous highlights of central Paris including the Arc de Triomphe, Champs Elysees and Place de la Concorde, the Louvre Museum, the Opera and Place Vendome.  continue with a walk around the Ile de la Cité and Notre Dame cathedral, visiting the inside of this magnificent building before strolling through the revitalised Marais distict.  Continue by coach via the legendary Place de la Bastille, the Pantheon and Sorbonne University to the Luxembourg Gardens, Orsay Museum and Dome des Invalides. Drive along the banks of the River Seine and end with a visit to the famous artists’ quarter of Montmartre and the Basilica of Sacré Coeur, with its splendid panorama across the city.   Overnight Paris.

DAY 7

A real treat awaits you today as you leave the city behind and travel out to the Palace of Versailles. This triumph of 17th and 18th Century French art has an incredibly rich history, not least for being the home of one of France’s most fascinating figures – Marie Antoinette. Visit the Grand Apartments, Hall of Mirrors and the extensive gardens. From here, transfer back to Paris for a  visit to the Eiffel Tower. From the 2nd level of this magnificent structure you will be able to see the whole of the city!  Perhaps take a cruise along the River Seine for a different perspective of the “City of Light” before enjoying a Gala Dinner this evening in one of the many excellent restaurants for which Paris is famous. Overnight in Paris.

DAY 8

There may be time to sample some of the legendary shopping opportunities in famous Parisian stores such as Printemps and Galeries Lafayette before commencing your homeward journey.
