Itinerary


DAY 1

After a morning arrival in Vienna enjoy a short panoramic sightseeing around the grand historic centre of the Austrian Imperial capital including the State Opera House, Schönbrunn Palace, St Stephen’s Cathedral and the City Hall of Vienna, called the Rathaus. Travel south on a scenic journey through the Eastern Alps to Bled. Overnight Bled, Slovenia. 

DAY 2

Start your day with an orientational sightseeing of Bled and a tour around Lake Bled, the picturesque, emerald-green wonder with a church on its tiny island situated atthe foot of the Julian Alps near the northern borders of Slovenia. Visit Bled Castle, a medieval fortress atop a steep cliff more than 100 meters above the lake and take a traditional boat ride to visit St Mary Church on Bled Island. Overnight Bled.

DAY 3

Morning drive south through the pretty rolling countryside of central Slovenia for a short panoramic tour of Ljubljana, Slovenia’s delightful capital city with its imposing castle complex.  Continue to Postojna, where you’ll visit one of the very finest karst cave systems in the world, including an exciting and fascinating underground train ride.   Travel onward into Croatia later in the afternoon.  Overnight Zadar, Croatia.

DAY 4

After breakfast your journey continues further south with a sightseeing tour of Split, the second largest city in Croatia, a great place to experience the traditional Dalmatian lifestyle. Step inside UNESCO World Heritage listed Diocletian’s Palace, one of the world’s most impressive Roman monuments. Continue south along the stunningly scenic Dalmatian coast to Dubrovnik.  Overnight Dubrovnik, Croatia.

DAY 5

Enjoy a half day sightseeing tour around the historic Adriatic coastal town of Dubrovnik with its UNESCO-listed Old Town, Sponza Palace, the Church of St Blaise and more. Stroll along the town’s picturesque promenade and cobblestone streets. Visit Rector’s Palace built in the 15th century in Gothic-Renaissance style, one of Dubrovnik’s most important buildings. Have the afternoon free for shopping. Overnight Dubrovnik.

DAY 6

Today’s drive returning northward from Dubrovnik is dedicated to Croatia’s magnificent scenery, with plenty of photo stops en route as you enjoy the delights of the Dalmatian coastline and then climb into the beautiful hills and lakes of the Plitvice National Park. Overnight in Plitvice area, Croatia.

DAY 7

Enjoy a most of the day exploring Plitvice National Park, the oldest national park in south east Europe, the absolute highlight of Croatia’s Adriatic hinterland and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The park has an extraordinary natural beauty with its system of 16 interlinked lakes surrounded by large forests. Overnight Zagreb.

DAY 8

After breakfast take a tour of the Croatian capital, Zagreb including Jelacic Square and Zagreb Cathedral. No wonder Zagreb is getting more and more popular as a city break destination, it has so much to offer to tourists all year round. Cross the border into Hungary this afternoon, travelling along the shores of its largest lake, Lake Balaton, en route to the capital city, Budapest. Overnight Budapest.

DAY 9

Half day panoramic sightseeing in Budapest including Buda Castle, Fisherman’s Bastion, Heroes’ Square, Chain Bridge, Parliament and Andrássy shopping street.   This afternoon transfer to Budapest or Vienna airport for your homeward journey.
