Here medieval boatmen were said to be lured to their doom by the beautiful Rhine Maidens. Drive via historic Heidelberg with its famous pink castle and into the picturesque hills of the Schwarzwald (Black Forest), “birthplace of the Cuckoo Clock“. Visit a workshop to see how these beautiful wooden timepieces are made and the beautiful lakeside resort of Titisee before driving across the border into Switzerland for a stop at the spectacular Rhinefall waterfalls where the huge river tumbles over a rocky rapid in a sea of frothing white water. This morning’s short drive brings you to Engelberg and Mount Titlis to enjoy a day in the heart of the beautiful Swiss Alps mountains.
