Arrive Paris and enjoy a panoramic sightseeing tour around the world famous highlights of central Paris including the Opera and Place Vendome, the Pantheon, Orsay Museum, banks of the River Seine, Dome des Invalides, Place de la Concorde, Louvre, Notre Dame Cathedral, Champs Elysées and Arc de Triomphe. Head into Belgium this morning for a stop in the delightful town of Bruges. Enjoy the typical Flemish architecture of the beautiful main square and canal side lanes built on the wealth of the medieval wool trade. After lunch it’s a short drive to Brussels, capital of Belgium, for a walking tour of the city’s old historical centre. Get the chance to take a photo in the Grand Place and with the legendary Manneken Pis statue before taking some time to shop for chocolates and perhaps sample some frites followed by a waffle! Head south through the rolling hills of the Ardennes to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg one of Europe’s smallest countries even though it has three languages! Enjoy a short drive through the city taking in the main sights such as the Grand Ducal Palace, Notre Dame Cathedral and Place Guillaume II. Continue back into France to arrive in Dijon capital of the historic region of Burgundy, an area world famous for its fine wines. See the Musée des Beaux Arts and other grand buildings from the age of the Dukes of Burgundy and enjoy a wine tasting before dinner this evening and learn about what makes the wines of Burgundy so special. This morning cross over the scenic Jura mountains into Switzerland to reach the world famous city of Geneva and enjoy a panoramic sightseeing of this city renowned for its old town and cathedral, its banks and international organisations – the European HQ of the United Nations is here – and the enormous Jet d’Eau fountain soaring up from the waters of Lake Geneva, all set against the magnificent mountain backdrop of the Alps. It also offers some of the classiest shopping in Europe! Overnight Geneva area.
A culinary delight awaits today on your journey through Switzerland, so famous for its cheese and chocolate. First visit the La Maison Du Gruyere cheese factory for a tour and tasting then onto the nearby Cailler Nestlé Chocolate Factory for another fascinating tour and superb tasting. Continue across the delightful and picturesque rolling hills and valleys of central Switzerland to its capital city Bern. Overnight Bern.
This morning enjoy a guided tour of the old town centre of Bern, a historic and picturesque UNESCO World Heritage city with its Renaissance fountains and beautiful covered arcades. This is where Einstein famously postulated his first principles of the Theory of Relativity whilst working at the Swiss Patent Office. In the afternoon, proceed to Switzerland’s biggest city and one of the financial capitals of the world, Zürich for an afternoon city tour including the Zwingli Statue, Old Town, Helferei, Guildhall and museum and Fraumunster Cathedral. Overnight Zürich.
Transfer to Zürich or Frankfurt airport or return to Paris by TGV high speed train for your homeward flight.
