The Highlights of Scotland
Day 1:
Arrive in Edinburgh. Transfer to hotel whilst viewing Edinburgh's famous sights on a half day panoramic city tour. The city of Edinburgh offers great architecture of Prince's Street and views, with Edinburgh Castle in its imposing position overlooking the city the most famous sight. Pass by Holyroodhouse Palace and the new Scottish Parliament building. Overnight Edinburgh.
Day 2:
Morning sightseeing in Edinburgh including a visit to the Castle and walk along the medieval Royal Mile. In the afternoon head along a beautifully scenic route towards Stirling, with a chance to visit Stirling Castle and the Wallace Monument. Overnight Stirling/Perth area.
This morning we travel towards the Highlands of Scotland with the possibility to visit Blair Castle or a whisky distillery at Blair Atholl. Continue north, through Speyside on the whisky trail and on to the famous Loch Ness where you can try your best to spot the loch's monster 'Nessie'. Overnight Inverness area.
Day 4:
This morning we travel down the banks of Loch Ness, with the possibility to visit the official Loch Ness visitor centre or Urquart Castle on the western banks of the Loch. We continue on to Oban. An alternative today would be to cross the bridge to Skye and see all that this unique mountainous island has to offer. Just before reaching Skye is Eilean Donan Castle, one of the most photographed castles in the world and a truly wonderful sight. The return to the mainland can be by ferry to Mallaig. Overnight Oban/Fort William area.
As we travel through the area of Glen Coe and the Nevis mountain range, home to the UK's highest mountain Ben Nevis, you will see the rugged, wild beauty of western Scotland. Then it's on to Loch Lomond for a relaxing stop off with a chance for a short cruise on the loch. Overnight Glasgow area.
Day 6:
This morning there will be a short sightseeing tour of the city of Glasgow, taking in George Square and the Cathedral. Glasgow has preserved much of its Victorian architecture and is home to over 20 museums and art galleries. Departure home.
