Go West is pleased to offer the following as a sample touring programme for a 16 Day Pilgrimage Tour of Europe. We travel across Portugal, Spain, France and Italy taking in some of the world's most iconic and important religious sights and attractions.

1

Lisbon, Portugal

This tour begins in Lisbon, Portugal. Upon arrival in Lisbon, you will take a panoramic sightseeing tour of the city, with the opportunity to see such famous landmarks as Belem Tower and the Monastery of San Jeronimos. We will also visit the Natal Shrine of St Anthony in Padua. Dinner and overnight accommodation in Lisbon.

Fatima

Proceed to Santarem and witness the relic of The Bleeding Host at the Church of St Stephen. Afterwards reboard the coach for a journey to an apparition site in Fatima. Visit the Basilica and see the Tombs of Jacinta, Lucia and Francisco. See the fragment of The Berlin Wall at the side of the apparition grounds. In the evening, spend some time for private devotion at the Apparitions Chapel, offer a lighted candle while you join the Procession in honour of Our Lady of Fatima.

Fatima - Avila - Madrid

Witness the beautiful walled city of Avila. In the 16th century, Teresa Ahumada was born and later formed the Discalced Carmelite Order. Walk along the traditional Spanish streets and pass by the Church and Convent of St Teresa de Jesus, built on the saints birthplace. Then, enjoy the Spanish countryside as you proceed to Madrid, Spain

Madrid

Our day begins with a half day city tour of Madrid. Visit The Royal Palace and see the Royal Quarters as well as the Palacio Real, the seat of the Spanish Monarchs. View the Parque el Retiro, Puerto del Sol, Plaza de Toro and other popular tourist spots. Spend some time at the Plaza Mayor for some photo opportunities, dining and of course shopping for some charming Spanish memorabilia. Enjoy the rest of the day as you please, you have free time to do whatever you choose this evening.

Madrid - Zaragoza - Lourdes

Our morning starts with a pleasant drive to Zaragoza to visit The Basilica of Our Lady of Pilar. This is the site of an apparition in 40AD  - there has been a chapel or church on the site since soon after but the current building dates from the 17th century. Appreciate the stunning scenery as we cross the majestic Pyrenees Mountains into France en route to Lourdes, where the Blessed Lady appeared to St Bernadette 18 times in 1858.

Lourdes

Today, the whole day is a free day for your own private devotion, with a tour of the Grotto, Basilicas and Sanctuaries. Immerse yourself in the bath's healing waters. Visit the House of St Bernadette, and perhaps do some shopping for some memorable souvenirs to take home.

Lourdes - Paris

Today we join the world famous TGV high speed train which will whisk you at speeds of up to 300 kmh across the beautiful  heart of France to reach its wonderful capital city, Paris.  After transferring to your hotel there is time to get a first taste of this sensational city and its wonderful restaurants this evening.

Paris

Discover the world's Capital of Fashion & Style with a local tour guide and admire its most famous sights such as The Opera, Arc de Triomphe, Champs Elysees, Notre Dame Cathedral and many more. For a birdseye view of the city, take an elevator to Paris' most famous landmark, the Eiffel Tower. Visit The Chapelle de la Medaille Miraculeuse and pray before the incorrupt body of St Catherine Laboure. Experience the Bateaux Mouches Cruise and appreciate the sights of the city from the water. Your afternoon is free for shopping and leisure time.

Paris - Lisieux - Nevers

Our journey continues on to Lisieux, home of St Therese of the Child Jesus. Witness her incorrupt body at the Basilica of St Peter. Afterwards we will proceed to Nevers for dinner and overnight accommodation.

Nevers - Lyon

Visit the Monastery of St Gildard and view the incorrupt body of St Bernadette. Pray at her favourite area in the garden. Proceed to Paray le Monial and see the incorrupt body of St Margaret Alacoque at the side altar where the Sacred Heart of Jesus appeared. Dinner and overnight accommodation will be in France's second city - Lyon

Lyon - Cannes

Travel south along the valley of the River Rhone, France’s longest river, as we head into picturesque Provence en route to Cannes, home of the world famous Cannes Film Festival is an amazing French Riviera city which is a popular destination for honeymooners.

Cannes - Nice - Monte Carlo - Pisa

Enjoy the unrivalled scenery of the French and Italian Riviera – one of the most beautiful stretches of coastline in Europe – heading through historic Nice and along the twisting Corniche Road to the tiny principality of Monaco. Stop here to visit the Cathedrale de Monaco, the Parliament and its magnificent gardens. Our journey continues as we drive towards Pisa, enjoying the wonderfully scenic French and Italian countryside.

Pisa - Assisi - Loreto

Witness the world famous Leaning Tower of Pisa. Take some time for photographs and explore the local shops for memorabilia. Then, proceed to Assisi and visit the Basilica where the tomb of St Francis is located. Continue the journey to Loreto.

Loreto - Lanciano - San Giovanni Rotondo

See the House of The Holy Family in Loreto, and spend some time for private devotion. In Lanciano, visit the Shrine of the Eucharistic Miracle at San Francesco Church where bread and wine were turned into flesh and blood at the altar.  Afterwards, we will continue to San Givoanni Rotondo

San Giovanni Rotondo - Rome

Visit the Convent of Santa Maria della Grazie, and see the incorruptible body of St Padre Pio. This is a famous destination for devotees seeking for his intercessions. We will then proceed to the city of Rome.

Rome - Vatican City 

Attend the Papal audience at St Peter's Square. Visit St Peter's Basilica and the Vatican Museum. Shop for some religious items and souvenirs in your leisure time. Enjoy a half day guided city tour of Classical Rome, and view exciting sights such as Piazza Venezia, Pantheon, the Colossuem and the Trevi Fountain. See the tombs of St. Josemaria Escriva inside the Chapel of Our Lady of Peace and Blessed Alvaro del Portillo at the Basilica San Eugenio

 

Your tour ends today, with an evening transfer to the airport for your departing flight.
