NORWAY’S SPECTACULAR FJORDS AND GLACIERS

Norway is a spectacular land with varied landscapes that extend across the Arctic Circle. It is famous for its fjord-indented coastline and its mountains, ski resorts and woods. Much of Norway’s nature remains unspoiled, with a wealth of fjords, mountains and waterfalls -  making it a paradise for hiking and skiing, amongst other outdoor activities. The deep enriched culture and heritage of Norway is waiting to be discovered and explored; it truly is a country that will take your breath away and leave lasting memorable impressions.

DAY
1

Upon arrival in Oslo, transfer to your hotel for check-in and overnight accommodation.

DAY
2

This morning embark on a panoramic city sightseeing tour. Highlights include City Hall, Akershus Fortress,  Nobel Peace Centre, Holmenkollen Ski Jump, Royal Palace Park, Opera House and The Cathedral.

In your own free time this afternoon, don’t miss the chance to see the Vigeland Sculpture Park. Pay a visit to The Viking Museum where you can experience a real Viking ship. Visit the Kon Tiki Museum which houses the original Kon Tiki raft. You may also enjoy a trip to the Ibsen Museum and the National Gallery  (home of Munch’s Scream)

DAY
3

Today, enjoy a scenic drive across the high wild plateau of the Hardangervidda, home to Europe’s largest stock of Reindeer. Visit Voringsfoss waterfall, one of the best in the country, and the stunning Hardanger Fjord - a fine example of the extraordinarily steep sided sea inlets for which Norway is so famous.

Overnight in Bergen, a World Heritage Site in its own right and renowned for the historic Fishermans Quarter of Bryggen and Troldhaugen – the former home of the famous composer Edvard Grieg.

DAY
4

Today is your chance to experience the legendary  “Norway in a Nutshell”. After a short drive to Voss join the train to the remote station at Myrdal – a place with no roads to ride on the spectacularly steep Flam railway for the world famous journey to the fjordside at Flam. Continue by Fjord steamer along the peaceful waters of Aurland Fjord with its impossibly steep sides and narrow waters, rejoining your coach at Gudvangen for the return journey to Stalheim and Bergen.

DAY
5

More amazing scenery today. In summer drive over Vikafjell mountain road with its dramatic and scenic descent (in winter take the lovely coastal and fjordside roads) en route to SogneFjord, another of Norway’s finest.

Cross the water for an afternoon glacier visit with the chance to experience for yourself what it is like in and around these wondrous rivers of ice. Overnight in one of the delightful hotels on the shores of the Fjord

DAY
6

Visit Geiranger Fjord this morning, this is perhaps the most famous of all Norways fjords with its almost supernatural beauty before continuing south through “Peer Gynt Country” to the renowned ski resort of Lillehammer and the Oslo area for your final evening in this amazing country

DAY
7
