The Power of Water

Day 1:

Arrive in Edinburgh, short panoramic sightseeing tour of Scotland's capital city, including the famous sights of the Royal Mile, Princes Street and Edinburgh Castle. Check in to our hotel in Edinburgh. Overnight, after a typical Scottish evening of wine, song and dance.

Day 2:

Leave Edinburgh after breakfast and travel north through the Highlands, stopping to visit the Scottish Hydro Electric Power Station/Visitor Centre in Pitlochry This is one of the main centres in Scotland. Then possibility to visit Blair Castle or/and a whisky distillery at Blair Atholl. Overnight in the Inverness area.

Travel south along Loch Ness, Scotland's most famous Loch to the Fort William area. You will travel down the Great Glen, home to one of the largest lock junctions in Europe and visit Neptune's Staircase (a flight of 7 locks). Overnight in the Fort William area.

Day 4:

Pass through some of Scotland's most dramatic scenery en route to Dalmally and the Cruachan Power Station for an underground visit to one of Scotland's largest Hydro-Electric Power sites. Return to Edinburgh for overnight.

Day 5:

Fly from Edinburgh to Dublin. Arrival Dublin airport, transfer to the hotel. Free time, time allowing including a visit to the Guinness Storehouse. Overnight in Dublin after an evening in a typical Irish pub.  

Day 6:

Full day in and around Dublin. Morning sightseeing tour taking in the main highlights of the city including Trinity College, St Stephen's Green and St Patick's Cathedral. In the afternoon possibility of visiting a Water Purification plant outside Dublin. Overnight in Dublin.

In the morning a meeting with the Water Board Authority with a special presentation on current water plants and a discussion with the members of the Irish Water Board. Free afternoon for exploring Temple Bar - the district famous for its pubs, shops, restaurants. Overnight in Dublin.

Day 8:

Return to airport for flight home.
